In-House Programs

Schnecksville runs an In-House program at our T-ball and Grasshopper levels. We believe at this age kids should focus more on having fun and learning the fundamentals and basic skills of baseball.  We feel the best way to accomplish this is to spend more time on the practice field with less need for actual game experience.  Games will still be played, but against other teams within our organization or a few other local organizations. These games are strictly non-competitive and are meant to be fun. This also means less travel for parents.

T-Ball

Ages: 4-6 (Must be 4 by March 31st of current year. Cannot turn 7 before May 1st)
Practice: 2 Days/Week for 1.5 hours (days/times TBD)
Location: Fields at corner of Neffs Laury’s and Old Post Road
Games: 6-8 game schedule played on Saturdays
Uniforms: T-shirts and hats provided with registration
Season: April-June

The T-Ball program is an In-House baseball program recommended for children 5-6 years old.  It is designed to teach the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, catching and running. At this level more emphasis is placed on practice rather than games.  At practice players will be kept active rotating through learning stations to focus on drills that promote repetitiveness and muscle memory.

Games consist of three innings. All players bat in each inning as well as play a defensive position. During games all batters will hit the ball from a batting tee. There is no coach pitch at T-ball. Adult coaches are stationed on the field to provide instruction. No scores are kept as this is a non-competitive game. The primary goal is to teach young players the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team setting.

Grasshopper

Ages: 6-8 (Cannot turn 9 before May 1st )
Practice: 2 Days/Week for 1.5 hours (days/times TBD)
Location: Varies
Games: 8-10 game schedule played on Saturdays
Uniforms: T-shirts and hats provided with registration
Season: April -June

The Grasshopper program is an In-House baseball program recommended for children 7-8 years old. It is designed to teach the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, catching and running. At this level there is still more emphasis placed on practice, but with a little more importance placed on games. At practice players will be kept active rotating through learning stations to focus on drills that promote repetitiveness and muscle memory. During games more realistic baseball rules are introduced.

The primary goal at the Grasshopper level is to build upon the fundamentals taught at the T-Ball level and to continue to develop the player’s skills while introducing them to a more game like experience. Games consist of five innings. A coach will pitch the first three innings and players will pitch the final two innings. All players bat in the first three innings as well as play a defensive position. Adult coaches are stationed on the field to provide instruction. No scores are kept as this is a non-competitive game.

*Certain kids may play up a level if they are physically and mentally ready to move up. A parental request must be made to the baseball coordinator who will then discuss with the player’s current/past coach and the baseball committee before making a determination. A player evaluation may also be scheduled. Not all requests will be granted. A number of factors will be used to determine if a child is ready to move up, including the number of participants at the next level.
